The "Lager X"

An Exhibition of photography of the artist Myriam Ceglarek
Presented in the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial

Myriam Ceglarek, who lives in sctoland and does a doctorate at the Free University in Berlin, has realized several exhibitions in Germany and Great Britain. The photographys shown here deviate from her former works. For the first times she makes the Hohenschönhausen Memorial subject of discussion. The reason can bee seen in the imprisonment of her father in the "Lager X", a former prison labour camp of the Stasi that borderd until 1974 at the detention prison. Her father has been imprisoned there for more than one year because of desertion.

KfZ Werkstatt

The motor vehicle workshop on the area of the "Lager X" on a photography from 1962

Today one cannot discern that much on the area. Several enterprices are located there. Just a few visitors of the memorial know that there a labour camp has been.
To make this recognizable again the artist Myriam Ceglarek documents the location - and uses some photographys of the archiv of the memorial as well.

The exhibition can be seen everyday between 9 am and 18 pm in the Genslerstraße 13a. The entry is free.
